Dr. William A. Amponsah was a professor of Economics for 33 years until he transitioned on August 1st, 2023 to focus on his passion project of developing his business to influence the transformation of people, organizations, businesses, communities, and nations. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a PhD in Applied Economics (with an emphasis on economic development and international trade) in 1991. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness at Berea College, Kentucky in 1984, and a Master of Science in Applied Economics (with emphasis on Marketing and Economic Policy) from the University of Kentucky in 1986.

He was formerly Director of the School of Economics, then transitioned to full-time faculty status for 17 years at Georgia Southern University. He also served on the faculty at North Carolina A&T State University for 16 years, where he was Director of the Center for International Trade and Economic Development. He started his career as a research associate and intern at The World Bank.

Dr. Amponsah has published many professional articles and contributed to books in his discipline. He served as the U.S. National Panel Manager of the National Research Initiative Competitive Grants in Markets and Trade and as associate editor of the Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy and Agriculture Economics. He has received excellence awards from various organizations. He lives in Statesboro, Georgia with his wife, Dr. Marian, a nursing professor at Georgia Southern University.

William is the Founder of Self Leadership Coaching International, LLC and Transformation Ghana Leadership Initiative. Transformation Ghana Leadership Initiative was founded in February 2019 with a vision to help transform the people of Ghana, where William was born, with values-based servant leadership.

He leverages his professional skills in economics (business economics and policy) with certifications as an organization and business growth strategist, executive director, and corporate facilitator with the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team (MLCT); dream and vision building, and life mastery consulting with the Brave Thinking Institute; and as a 10X business coach with Cardone Enterprises. He is certified by Harvard University’s Program on Negotiation to teach negotiations in organizations and by Global Priority Solutions to facilitate values for life/behavior transformation. He receives mentoring in Success Principles and Practice by Jack Canfield.
